Project Background

In March 2019, Clipper Equity installed the Stealth Boiler Control and Energy Management System at 250 Livingston Street, a 217 unit building with both commercial and residential spaces, and a heating system running on gas. The heating system consists of a hot water and steam combination boiler and two zone valves. The Stealth controls the heat and hot water for the commercial spaces only.

Management opted in to our Entech Pro service, where the Stealth components and settings are monitored and tweaked by dedicated Specialists. Commercial spaces have unique heating needs and increased opportunity to cut back on energy costs.

Energy Conservation Measures

Entech Pro Specialists implemented settings to ensure that the heat runs only when indoor and outdoor temperatures warrant it, and when tenants are occupying the spaces. Stealth’s advanced heat cycle trigger and Smart Cycles were put in place to ensure heat is established whenever there is a heat call and cycles self-adjust based on the outdoor temperature and indoor response. Hot water settings were applied to the boiler as well, ensuring adequate hot water supply while conserving energy.

Settings were adjusted regularly to reduce energy consumption, while at the same time responding to any on-site feedback.

Results:

A usage and savings analysis based on Heating Degree Days and actual fuel bills was performed for every season the Stealth was in place, with outstanding results year after year. Outstanding energy reduction and cost savings were realized, with an incredible 44% reduction in gas usage, and cumulative dollar savings of $103,874.
